A Small Change to Make a Big Difference

Hello, thanks for stopping by.

From 30th April 2021 it will be law that all retailers in the UK will be required to charge for plastic bags in order to reduce plastic waste. This works and the amount of plastic bags used has dropped by 86% per year compared with 2015 prior to this change.

Therefore we will be charging 10p per bag in line with this new law.

We have also gone one better and will be introducing 100% degradable bags instead of plastic which will degrade in landfill. This is by no means a perfect solution but a step in the right direction.

We want to encourage all of you to play your part and bring in your own bag to help the planet.

If you don’t want to use a bag but need some help then ask one of our team for a cardboard box or we will bring your items out to your car without a bag.

We have reviewed swapping plastic for paper bags but there are also many environmental impacts that this has for paper bag production. Paper bags take a lot more energy to produce compared with plastic or degradable alternatives. As a result of this research we have considered the information available to us and believe that the degradable bags will be the better option for now.

This is a new direction for us so we welcome any feedback or ideas from anyone to help us reduce our impact on the environment.

We hope that many of you will avoid using a bag which will make the biggest change to help the planet.

Thank you for your understanding and let’s all do our bit to help the environment.
