Shop Assistant / Delivery Driver

We are looking for a shop assistant / delivery driver to join the award winning Daymans DIY team. The ideal candidate will have previous experience, enthusiastic and keen to learn. A knowledge of the DIY or building sector would be advantageous. A full clean driving license will be required and previous van driving would be advantageous.

Daymans DIY is a family run hardware store which has been based in the heart of Leicester since 1928. Currently ran by third generation Steve and fourth generation Adam and has been handed down through the family. The business is growing and also launched its website in November 2020.

The role suits someone who is self-motivated, ambitious, and looking for a position in which they can be challenged and learn. You will be public facing and upholding our family values and shop image therefore having fantastic customer skills will be required. We value common sense and a strong work ethic above qualifications so would consider all for this role.

Key aspects of the role

  • Receiving, unpacking, pricing, and putting out stock.
  • Assisting customers in finding products in store.
  • Processing orders over the telephone, in store and online.
  • Keeping the sales floor and stock room organised and tidy.
  • Use of computer and Point of Sale till system.
  • Local deliveries in company vans for a range of stock items including larger building materials, timber & aggregates.

Job Details

  • Based from our store full time 5 days per week (including Saturday).
  • 42.5 hours per week - 8am to 5:30pm (with 1 hour break).
  • Starting date as soon as possible.
  • Salary: upto £10.42 per hour
